Avatar State Aang — Character Guide

Avatar State Aang is a separate playable fighter, not a temporary power-up for base Aang. Choose him if you want multi-element offense and are willing to track which support changes which element. Katara adds ice properties to water attacks and makes water heal a small amount. Avatar Roku increases the follow-up window on fire attacks and adds damage over time. Guru Pathik improves Harmonic Drift mobility and adds a Flow cancel to Unbound, Earthshatter, and Skyrift. That means a useful combo note must name more than “Aang”: it needs Avatar State Aang, the selected support, the elemental starter, resources, position, and patch. Start with one support-specific route and a stable ender. Trying to learn every element and support interaction at once turns his flexibility into noise.

Who should play Avatar State Aang?

This version sells the Avatar State through decision density rather than a glowing costume alone. Roku, Katara, and Pathik each pull a different lesson from Aang’s history into the match.

Avatar State Aang's first match plan

Pick one elemental interaction as the center of the match. Use Harmonic Drift to control where the next exchange happens, confirm a support-enhanced hit, and end in a position where the same plan remains available. Expand to a second element only after the first route is stable.

One fighter, three support-defined elemental packages

Katara modifies water, Roku modifies fire, and Guru Pathik modifies movement plus three named actions. Treat support selection as a moveset configuration and document it on every route.

How should you choose a support?

Supports are not traditional active assists. They modify movement, move properties, resources, or combo routes, so there is no context-free “best support.”

Support variation

Katara

Adds ice properties to water attacks; water also restores a small amount of health.

Pick for: Water-centered control and incremental sustain.

Support variation

Avatar Roku

Increases the follow-up window on fire attacks and adds damage over time.

Pick for: More forgiving fire confirms and pressure.

Support variation

Guru Pathik

Improves Harmonic Drift mobility and adds Flow cancels to Unbound, Earthshatter, and Skyrift.

Pick for: Movement and cancel-heavy route construction.

Which key moves should you learn first?

MovePurposeCaution
Harmonic DriftThe movement layer enhanced by Guru Pathik.Do not assume Pathik timing applies to other supports.
UnboundA named action that gains a Flow-cancel option with Guru Pathik.Record the support before writing it as a cancel route.
Earthshatter / SkyriftElemental route anchors that also gain Pathik Flow-cancel options.Separate the base move from its support-enabled follow-up.

Your first 30-minute lab route

  1. Confirm the separate Avatar State Aang slot and unlock path before opening the lab plan.
  2. Choose one support and list every move property it changes.
  3. Land one support-specific confirm ten times on both sides.
  4. Switch supports and prove which parts of the first route stop working.

Route cards explicitly record starter, support, resources, position, build, and evidence status. A card without complete notation is a research lead, not a finished combo to copy.

The support is part of the moveset record. Name it before the starter so a Roku route is never mistaken for a Katara or Pathik route.

What will Avatar fans recognize?

The support trio connects Aang’s mastery to people who shaped it: Katara’s water, Roku’s inherited fire knowledge, and Pathik’s spiritual movement lesson.
