Aang — Character Guide

Aang is for players who want movement itself to become offense. Air Scooter preserves speed into jumps, Wind Summon changes how airborne characters drift, and each support rewrites a different part of his routing. He is not the easiest first character because successful pressure depends on carrying momentum into the right angle. Begin with Gyatso for grounded Scooter control, then learn Appa only when the extra Flow-cancel freedom is worth its Chi cost.

Who should play Aang?

Aang never looks comfortable standing still, and neither should his player. His scooter, glider, staff vaults and wind fields translate the playful avoidance fans remember into a character who wins by making the opponent swing at yesterday’s position.

Strengths
  • Exceptional freedom in ground-to-air movement
  • Wind fields can alter both pressure and combo spacing
  • Supports create clear ground, air or combo identities
Watch first
  • Execution rises quickly once momentum routes are added
  • Appa’s freedom increases Chi responsibility
  • Some impressive movement is unsafe when blocked

Aang's first match plan

Build speed safely, release it through Scooter Jump or a controlled approach, and use Wind Summon to make aerial spacing favor your route. Aang can produce impressive movement, but movement without a threat only gives the opponent more time. Pair every practiced route with a simple question: what button or position is this movement trying to beat?

Carry speed, then spend the angle

Air Scooter has strength-dependent speed and can release that momentum through Scooter Jump or Scooter High Jump. Wind Summon can push or pull airborne fighters, changing whether an approach reaches and whether a route stays aligned. Gyatso strengthens the grounded Scooter plan, Momo emphasizes glider and air movement, and Appa permits broader normal-to-Flow cancels at a higher Chi burden. The skill is not memorizing every branch; it is recognizing which branch preserves advantage without empty movement.

How should you choose a support?

Supports are not traditional active assists. They modify movement, move properties, resources, or combo routes, so there is no context-free “best support.”

Support variation

Gyatso

Improves Air Scooter and grounded mobility.

Pick for: Best first study for learning momentum from the ground.

Support variation

Momo

Improves glider control and air speed.

Pick for: For players who want air movement as their main identity.

Support variation

Appa

Enables normals to cancel into Flow actions.

Pick for: For combo and pressure freedom after Chi management is comfortable.

Which key moves should you learn first?

MovePurposeCaution
Air ScooterBuilds forward momentum and launches multiple approach branches.Scooter Jump is unavailable when the Scooter is blocked.
Vaulting StrikeStaff-vault attack that integrates into routes and changes air position. The faster version can be punished on guard.
Cyclone StrikeWall-bounce tool with Flow-cancel options before and after.Use the cancel for a purpose, not simply because it exists.
Wind SummonPushes or pulls airborne fighters to reshape spacing. It costs Chakra and does not change grounded movement.

Your first 30-minute lab route

  1. Measure where each Air Scooter strength stops without attacking.
  2. Release speed through normal and high Scooter Jump ten times.
  3. Test one route with Wind Push, Wind Pull and no wind.
  4. With Appa, stop the drill whenever Chi reaches Unbalanced.

Aang combo and lab studies

Route cards explicitly record starter, support, resources, position, build, and evidence status. A card without complete notation is a research lead, not a finished combo to copy.

What will Avatar fans recognize?

Air Scooter, glider movement, handless recovery and Avatar’s Reckoning adapt recognizable scenes into inputs and match states instead of stopping at costume references.
